Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan on Friday paid glowing tribute to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, describing him as a leader of exceptional personality whose sacrifices continue to inspire the nation. Addressing Parakram Diwas celebrations in Cuttack to mark Netaji Jayanti, the Vice President said India breathes freedom today because of the courage and dedication of great freedom fighters like Netaji.
Beginning his speech in Odia, Radhakrishnan expressed pride in visiting Odisha, a state deeply connected with Netaji’s birth and legacy. He highlighted Odisha’s rich cultural heritage, citing the Konark Sun Temple, Odissi dance and Lord Jagannath as symbols that have brought the state national and global recognition.
Recalling Netaji’s role in the freedom movement, the Vice President noted that while Netaji and Mahatma Gandhi followed different ideologies, both were united by the common goal of India’s independence. He urged citizens to draw inspiration from Netaji’s historic “Dilli Chalo” call and work collectively towards building a developed India.
During the programme, the Vice President also inaugurated a postal museum dedicated to the memory of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
