A youth from Rodang village in Dhenkanal district was allegedly stabbed on Friday night due to previous enmity. The victim, identified as Chandan Mallick, sustained a penetrating abdominal injury and was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for advanced treatment. Police have launched an investigation.

A youth was allegedly stabbed over previous enmity on Friday night in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district, leaving him critically injured. The victim, identified as Chandan Mallick of Rodang village under Bhuban Police Station limits, sustained a deep abdominal injury after being attacked by a group of youths.

According to reports, the incident took place when Chandan was returning home with household ration items after collecting his salary from Bhuban. He alleged that Dinabandhu’s elder son, Bablu, began following him from an eatery. Shortly after they crossed a petrol pump, several individuals reportedly got out of a vehicle and attacked him and his companion using a sharp knife and sticks.

The knife reportedly pierced through his abdomen, leaving him severely injured. He was later found lying in a critical condition near Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya at Purusottampur. Local villagers rushed to his rescue and admitted him to the Bhuban Community Health Centre. As his condition worsened, he was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for advanced medical care.

The victim’s father lodged a complaint at Bhuban Police Station, alleging that the attack was linked to previous enmity. However, the exact reason behind the alleged rivalry had not been established at the time of reporting.

Police reached the spot after receiving information and launched an investigation. While the victim was able to identify a few accused persons, not all the miscreants have been traced yet. Hospital sources confirmed that Chandan was stable and recovering at the time of reporting.
