In a tragic road accident, two schoolgirls were seriously injured after being hit by a speeding motorcycle while on their way to appear for the matriculation examination in Odisha’s Balasore district on Monday.

The injured students, Mamata Majhi and Jyotiprabha Majhi of Abhana Nodal High School, were cycling to Bishnupur Nodal High School, their exam centre, when the mishap occurred. Locals immediately rescued them and shifted them to a nearby health centre for treatment.

However, as Jyotiprabha’s health condition deteriorated, she was referred to a major hospital in Cuttack for advanced care. Due to the accident, both students were unable to appear for their important board examination.
