TheOdisha governmentis yet to clear outstanding telephone bills amounting to₹28.54 croreowed toBharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), despite repeated reminders from theMinistry of Communications, including three recent letters sent byUnion Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, official records reveal.As per data available tillDecember 31, 2025, various state government departments and affiliated organisations collectively owe ₹28.54 crore to the debt-laden public sector telecom operator.According to a report byThe Hindu, theInformation and Public Relations Departmentaccounts for the highest outstanding amount at₹8.59 crore, followed by theLaw Department, which owes₹4.42 crore. Several other departments, includingEducation, Finance, Health and Family Welfare, Home, and Rural Development, reportedly have dues exceeding₹1 crore each.
