Air India on Tuesday issued a travel advisory for passengers flying on the morning of January 7, warning of potential disruptions due to heavy fog and poor visibility over Delhi and several parts of northern India. The airline noted that these weather conditions could affect flight schedules across its network.
In a post on X, Air India stated that it is closely monitoring the situation and has implemented proactive measures to minimize passenger inconvenience. The airline assured that ground staff will be available to assist travellers in case of delays, diversions, or cancellations.
The airline also highlighted itsFogCare initiative, which keeps passengers on potentially affected flights informed in advance and offers flexible options such as free rescheduling or full refunds without penalties in the event of cancellations.
Passengers travelling on Wednesday have been advised to check their flight status before heading to the airport and to allow extra travel time.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport continues to operate underCAT III conditions, enabling aircraft to land in very low visibility using advanced landing systems and specially trained pilots. Airport authorities cautioned that some delays may still occur despite ongoing arrivals and departures.
The national capital is also experiencing cold weather, recording its first “cold day” of the season, with maximum temperatures ranging between 13°C and 16°C. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) noted that such conditions are likely to persist, defining a cold day as one where temperatures are 4.5 to 6.4°C below normal.
