Kolkata Police have arrested a jeweller from Bargarh in Odisha in connection with a financial dispute involving nonpayment of dues. According to reports, the jeweller had procured gold ornaments and other materials from a Kolkata-based jewellery company but allegedly failed to clear the outstanding amount despite repeated reminders.
Following a formal complaint lodged by the creditor, Kolkata Police initiated an investigation and traced the accused to Bargarh. A police team subsequently reached the town, detained the jeweller and transferred him to Kolkata for further legal proceedings.
The incident has created a stir among local traders, highlighting growing concerns over financial disputes in the jewellery sector. Police officials said the case will proceed as per legal norms once the accused is presented before the appropriate court.
