The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has reaffirmed its decision not to travel to India for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, citing security concerns for players and staff. In a video conference with the ICC, BCB officials requested that Bangladesh’s matches be relocated outside India, while the ICC urged reconsideration, noting that the tournament schedule is already finalized.
Tensions between the BCB and BCCI have escalated following the termination of Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman’s IPL contract, which was influenced by political backlash in India over reports of violence against the Hindu minority in Bangladesh. In response, Bangladesh banned IPL broadcasts and formally requested the ICC to move their matches.
The BCB emphasized that player safety remains its top priority and continues discussions with the ICC to reach a mutually acceptable solution. The board also clarified earlier statements made by its sports advisor regarding the ICC’s acknowledgment, confirming that no official decision has been made yet.
