Bollywood actor-comedian Rajpal Yadav was granted interim bail in a cheque bounce dispute case after spending 12 days in Tihar Jail. The relief was granted specifically to allow him to attend his niece’s wedding ceremony on February 19.
Following his release, Yadav travelled to his ancestral village Kundara in Shahjahanpur district, Uttar Pradesh, where he immersed himself in the family celebrations. Several videos from the festivities quickly went viral on social media, showing the actor dancing energetically with his wife Radha Yadav and relatives during the mehendi and wedding functions.
In one widely shared clip, Yadav is seen dressed in a traditional dhoti-kurta, dancing joyfully to a popular song by Salman Khan, drawing cheers from family members. The actor appeared emotional at times, especially during his niece’s bidaai ceremony, and was also seen participating in traditional household tasks such as making rotis.
Speaking to media outlets including Aaj Tak, Yadav expressed heartfelt gratitude toward his supporters and well-wishers. He became emotional while speaking about his wife, saying that even multiple lifetimes would not be enough to repay her for standing by him and holding the family together during difficult times.
Addressing his financial struggles and village roots with characteristic humility, he remarked that the land in his village would at least ensure “dal-roti,” adding that whatever acting he does is driven by passion rather than necessity.
The cheque bounce case reportedly involves around Rs 9 crore linked to a 2012 film production loan that escalated due to interest. However, Yadav refrained from discussing details, stating that the matter is sub-judice and that he would present his full side, along with evidence, at the appropriate time. He emphasized that he would fully accept whatever decision the court delivers.
His interim bail is valid until March 18, 2026, with the next hearing scheduled for that date.
Despite the legal challenges, Rajpal Yadav appeared grounded and emotionally connected to his roots. Calling both his village and Bollywood his “janmabhoomi,” he acknowledged his deep gratitude toward Hindi cinema and reiterated his appreciation for everyone who supported him during this difficult phase.
