Odisha CM Mohan Majhi Inaugurates Adivasi Mela 2026, Urges Tribals to Embrace Education and Rights

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi inaugurated the Adivasi Mela 2026 in Bhubaneswar, highlighting government initiatives for tribal welfare, including the Shahid Madho Singh Haath Kharcha Yojana. The fair showcases tribal products, culture, and achievements, aiming to promote livelihoods and preserve heritage.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi inaugurated the Adivasi Mela 2026 at the Adivasi Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar, urging tribal communities to become educated, informed, and aware of their rights. Emphasising the government’s commitment, Majhi highlighted initiatives to address tribal issues and improve livelihoods.

The Chief Minister launched the Shahid Madho Singh Haath Kharcha Yojana, a scheme aimed at providing financial assistance and promoting sustainable employment for tribals. He also encouraged citizens to buy and promote authentic tribal products displayed at the fair, which recorded Rs 9 crore in business last year.

The mela features 109 stalls, cultural programs from 30 districts, and honours tribal achievers, including Thakurdas Hansda, recognized for his work in preserving the Santhali language using Ol Chiki script and AI-assisted translations. The event will continue until February 5, promoting tribal culture, crafts, and entrepreneurship.
