In response to being replaced by Scotland in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a new domestic competition, the ODOMMO Bangladesh T20 Cup 2026. The tournament, scheduled from February 5 to 9, is designed to bring Bangladesh’s leading white-ball players together during the World Cup window.
The word “ODOMMO,” meaning “indomitable” in Bangla, reflects the board’s intent to stage a competitive event rather than a symbolic replacement. The tournament will feature three teams — Dhumketu XI, Durbar XI and Duronto XI. Bangladesh T20I captain Litton Kumar Das will lead Dhumketu XI, Najmul Hossain Shanto will captain Durbar XI, while Akbar Ali will skipper Duronto XI.
The competition follows the BCB’s decision not to travel to India for the T20 World Cup, a move that reportedly faced opposition from several players and ultimately resulted in Bangladesh being replaced in the ICC event. The board has allocated total prize money and player fees worth Tk 2.5 crore (approximately Rs 1.87 crore) to ensure competitiveness.
The tournament will also introduce the Impact Player rule, adding a strategic element to matches. Group-stage games will be played on February 5, 6 and 7, with the final scheduled for February 9. Each matchday will begin with a cultural programme at 4 pm, followed by the match at 6 pm.
Ahead of the tournament, a fitness camp will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium from February 1. The coaching staff has also been confirmed, with Mohammad Salahuddin, Mizanur Rahman Babul and Hannan Sarkar appointed as head coaches of the three teams. Fan-friendly ticket pricing has been announced to encourage attendance.
