Dense Fog Disrupts Normal Life in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack; Visibility Drops to 50 Metres in Puri

Dense fog affected normal life in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack on Tuesday morning, disrupting traffic and reducing visibility on major roads. Similar conditions were reported in Puri, where visibility dropped to around 50 metres and tourist movement remained low. Authorities have advised motorists to drive cautiously during early morning hours.

A thick blanket of fog engulfed several parts of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack in the early hours, severely affecting vehicular movement and daily activities. Commuters faced delays during peak office hours as poor visibility forced vehicles to move slowly with headlights and fog lamps switched on. Many residents described the situation as similar to a white sheet covering the city.

In Cuttack, heavy fog slowed traffic and created difficulties for office-goers, students, and daily commuters navigating mist-covered roads. The impact was also felt in Puri, where the Shree Jagannath Temple area and surrounding locations were shrouded in dense mist, with visibility dropping to nearly 50 metres and fewer tourists venturing out in the morning.

Weather conditions, including recent cold spells, have contributed to intensified fog formation across the region. Authorities have urged drivers to use fog lights, maintain safe distances, and exercise caution to avoid accidents during low-visibility conditions.
