A Class 10 student was critically injured after his throat was allegedly slit by a youth following a dispute over a financial transaction in Odisha’s Koraput district on Sunday night. The shocking incident has triggered panic and outrage in the local community.
The attack took place at Chuchukana village under Laxmipur block. According to preliminary reports, the injured student is a resident of Rayagada district. He had reportedly travelled to the village to witness Shivaratri celebrations when he became involved in an argument with a local youth identified asKeshab Padhi.
Sources said the altercation allegedly began over a financial transaction and quickly escalated into a violent confrontation. During the heated exchange, the accused allegedly attacked the student with a sharp-edged weapon, slashing his throat.
The victim collapsed at the scene, bleeding profusely. Locals immediately rushed to his rescue and arranged for emergency medical assistance.
The injured student was initially administered first aid before being shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Rayagada. Hospital sources confirmed that his condition remains critical and he is under close medical supervision.
