The newly launched Vande Bharat Sleeper train connecting Kamakhya and Howrah has received an overwhelming response from passengers, with all tickets for its first day of commercial operations booked within hours of the reservation window opening.

Ticket bookings for the Vande Bharat Sleeper (Train No. 27576) began on January 19 at 8 a.m. through the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) and other authorised platforms. Within less than 24 hours, tickets across all classes were completely sold out, underscoring strong public demand for the premium semi-high-speed service.

The maiden commercial run is scheduled to commence on January 22 from Kamakhya and on January 23 from Howrah. The rapid sell-out highlights passengers’ eagerness to experience the speed, comfort and modern onboard amenities of the Vande Bharat Sleeper, inaugurated by the Prime Minister on January 17.

Railway officials noted that the strong response reflects a growing preference for faster, safer, and more comfortable rail travel. The Kamakhya–Howrah Vande Bharat Sleeper is expected to enhance connectivity between the Northeast and eastern India, reduce travel time and provide a world-class overnight travel experience.

The swift booking of all tickets within hours demonstrates passengers’ confidence in and excitement for modern train services being introduced by Indian Railways, marking a significant milestone in premium rail connectivity for the region.
