Indian tennis player Vaishnavi Adkar has emerged as a rising star after reaching the final of the ITF Women’s Open W100 Bengaluru as a wildcard ranked World No.690. Her remarkable run helped her jump 224 places to World No.466, making her WTA top-500 debut and becoming India’s No.2 player behind Sahaja Yamalpalli.
During the tournament, Adkar stunned higher-ranked opponents including Mai Hontama, Taylah Preston, and Lanlana Tararudee to reach her maiden W100 final. She eventually finished runner-up after losing to Hanne Vandewinkel but earned valuable ranking points.
Born in Pune, Adkar started playing tennis at age seven and has steadily progressed through junior and professional ranks. She also made history by winning a bronze medal at the World University Games. Her Bengaluru performance confirms her potential to become India’s next major women’s singles star.
