Chennai–New Jalpaiguri Express Derails Near Jakhapura in Odisha’s Jajpur

Three coaches of the Chennai–New Jalpaiguri Express derailed near Jakhapura station in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Thursday morning. No casualties were reported and train operations in the section remained unaffected.

Three coaches of the Chennai–New Jalpaiguri Express, Train No. 22611, derailed near Jakhapura station in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Thursday morning, railway officials said. The incident occurred while the train was moving at a very slow speed within the yard limits of the station.Railway officials said the affected coaches were being detached from the train and passengers travelling in those coaches were being suitably accommodated to ensure minimal inconvenience. Additional coaches are being arranged and will be attached to the train as required to facilitate the onward journey of passengers.Soon after receiving information about the derailment, an Accident Relief Train (ART) from Bhubaneswar and Khurda Road was promptly dispatched to the site at 08:53 hrs. Accident Relief Medical Equipment (ARME) from Khurda Road was also sent as a precautionary measure.
