Panic and traffic disruption were reported in parts of Bhubaneswar after a group of youths created chaos by climbing onto a Thar SUV in the Mancheswar police station area. According to police, the youths were allegedly intoxicated and were seen dancing, lying and standing on the roof of the moving vehicle, openly violating traffic rules and endangering public safety.
Videos of the incident, widely circulated on social media, showed the youths blocking traffic and flouting road safety norms. Police said the accused had allegedly concealed the vehicle’s number plate using stickers to evade identification.
The incident came to light after a video was shared on social media platform X, prompting swift action from the police. Officers seized the Thar SUV and detained two individuals for questioning. Authorities said further investigation is underway to identify other persons involved and determine the full extent of the violations. Police have assured strict action against those responsible to curb reckless behaviour on city roads.
