With the passage of Makar Sankranti, winter intensity has begun to ease across Odisha, as both minimum and maximum temperatures show a gradual upward trend. Over the past five days, most parts of the state have recorded a noticeable rise in temperatures, indicating a steady decline in cold conditions.
According to the Meteorological Department, successive western disturbances are expected to influence weather patterns in the coming days, leading to a gradual increase in both daytime and nighttime temperatures across Odisha. Currently, no major weather system is active over the state, and dry conditions are likely to prevail over the next week.
Weather officials noted that temperatures are expected to remain largely stable over the next four to five days, with no significant fluctuations anticipated. No cold wave warnings have been issued, indicating that severe winter conditions are not expected in the immediate future.
However, the department has forecast light to moderate fog at several locations in Odisha during the next 24 hours, particularly in coastal districts. Areas including Khordha, Puri, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack are expected to experience reduced visibility due to fog, which may affect early morning travel.
Authorities have advised commuters and motorists to exercise caution in fog-prone regions. Overall, the prevailing weather indicates a transition toward milder winter days, with gradual warming expected to continue across Odisha in the coming week.
