A serious road accident occurred in the Badagada area of Bhubaneswar on Friday morning, leaving four persons injured after a speeding traveller van rammed into a battery-operated e-auto.

The mishap took place at around 9:10 am near Brit Colony on the main road under the jurisdiction of Badagada police station. According to eyewitnesses, the traveller van was moving at a high speed when it collided head-on with the e-auto, causing severe damage to the smaller vehicle.

The force of the impact was so intense that the e-auto driver was thrown onto the road. The collision also affected a few roadside shops in the vicinity, creating panic among local residents and shopkeepers.

Locals alleged that the van driver appeared to be in an inebriated condition at the time of the accident. However, police officials have not yet confirmed these claims. CCTV footage from nearby establishments is being examined as part of the investigation.

All four injured individuals were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Medical sources stated that their condition is stable.

Preliminary reports indicate that there were no passengers inside the traveller van at the time of the accident. The Badagada police have detained the van driver for questioning and have launched a detailed probe to ascertain the exact cause of the mishap.
