OdishaVigilance on Saturday arrested Niranjan Satapathy, Forester of the Semiliguda Forest Range under theKoraputForest Division, in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) case following extensive searches at properties linked to him across multiple districts.
Satapathy was taken into custody after Vigilance officials concluded that he was in possession of assets far exceeding his known sources of income. He is scheduled to be forwarded to the court of the Special Judge (Vigilance),Bhubaneswar, later in the day.
The arrest follows simultaneous Vigilance raids conducted at premises associated with Satapathy in Bhubaneswar, Jagatsinghpur and Koraput districts. Based on the findings, Bhubaneswar Vigilance Police Station Case No. 31/2025 has been registered against him under relevant provisions relating to possession of disproportionate assets.
Officials stated that the assets detected during the searches could not be satisfactorily explained by the forester.
According to Vigilance sources, the following assets have been detected so far in the name of Satapathy and his family members:
Two multi-storeyed palatial buildings in Bhubaneswar and one building in Koraput district
Seven high-value land plots
Gold ornaments weighing approximately 1 kg
