FormerBangladeshPrime MinisterSheikh Hasinahas strongly criticised the Muhammad Yunus–led interim government amid continuing unrest inDhakafollowing the killing of activist Sharif Osman Hadi.
In an email interview with ANI, Hasina claimed that the “lawlessness” that led to her removal has worsened under the current administration, arguing that violence has become routine while authorities either deny it or fail to act.
Hasina said such instability not only threatens internal security but also damages Bangladesh’s relations with neighbouring countries, particularlyIndia. She alleged that minorities are increasingly targeted and warned thatNew Delhiis closely observing the deteriorating situation.
Hadi, linked to last year’s July uprising, was shot in Dhaka on December 12 and later died inSingapore, sparking protests demanding justice. Hasina further accused the interim government of empowering radical Islamist elements, releasing convicted terrorists, and weakening Bangladesh’s secular foundations.
She also blamed Yunus for rising tensions with India, citing anti-India protests and the killing of Hindu youth Dipu Chandra Das. According to Hasina, hostile rhetoric, failure to protect minorities, and attacks on diplomatic missions have strained ties, though she expressed confidence that relations would recover once elected governance is restored.
