Two wagons of a goods train derailed near Bondamunda Railway Station on the Howrah–Mumbai main line, under the Chakradharpur Railway Division in Sundargarh district, Odisha.

The train was traveling from theJharsuguda exchange yard to MCLwhen the incident occurred.

According to sources, the derailment took place along the joint line near Bondamunda, affecting two wagons. No information on injuries or further damage to railway assets has been reported so far.

Technical Issue Cited as CauseRailway officials indicated that a component of the train’spressure suspension systemdetached during movement. This mechanical failure caused the train to be dragged for nearly 100 metres before the two wagons went off the track. A detailed technical investigation is underway to determine the exact sequence of events.

Restoration and InvestigationRailway rescue and restoration teams were immediately dispatched to the site. The derailed wagons were shifted to restore normal track operations, following strict safety protocols. The Railway Department has initiated a technical probe to ascertain the precise cause of the derailment.
