Suella Braverman, former UK home secretary and Conservative MP for Fareham and Waterlooville, has officially joined anti-immigration party Reform UK, led by Nigel Farage. Citing “Tory betrayal” and uncontrolled immigration, Braverman resigned her 30-year Conservative membership at a public event in London.
Her defection adds to a growing list of high-profile Tory MPs who have joined Farage’s party, including Robert Jenrick and Nadhim Zahawi, bringing the total Conservative defections to eight. Braverman, a controversial figure in UK politics, praised Farage as a consistent leader and criticized the Conservative government for failing on public services, safety, and national strength.
The move comes after a career marked by controversy, including two removals as home secretary under Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak, and past bids for Conservative Party leadership.
