Senior political leader Dilip Ray, who is set to contest the Rajya Sabha election as an Independent candidate, visited the residence of veteran leader Bijoy Mohapatra on Wednesday, drawing attention amid intensified political developments in Odisha. The information regarding the visit was shared by Patkura MLA Arvind Mohapatra.
The visit followed the announcement of Dilip Ray’s candidature for the Rajya Sabha, leading to widespread political discussions and speculation across the state. Given the timing, the meeting sparked curiosity in political circles about possible strategic deliberations.
However, Arvind Mohapatra dismissed such speculation, stating that no political discussions took place during the visit. He clarified that Dilip Ray had come solely to extend Holi greetings, highlighting their long-standing family relationship. According to the MLA, the leader visits every year during the festival and the interaction was purely social.
He further described Dilip Ray as a seasoned and capable candidate with over four decades of experience in both Odisha and national politics. Reiterating that no support was sought or discussed, Mohapatra maintained that the meeting was unrelated to the upcoming Rajya Sabha nomination process, which is scheduled for March 5.
