Dense fog enveloped Bhubaneswar in the early hours of Monday, disrupting normal life as visibility levels dropped significantly across several parts of the city.
A thick blanket of fog covered major roads, residential areas, and highways, leaving the city skyline obscured for hours. Many areas appeared shrouded in what resembled white smoke, with visibility reduced to a few metres in certain stretches.
The low-visibility conditions severely impacted vehicular movement, especially along national highways and key arterial roads. Vehicles were seen crawling at slow speeds as drivers exercised extreme caution to navigate through the dense mist. The early morning rush hour witnessed considerable slowdowns in multiple parts of the city.
Pedestrians also reported difficulty commuting due to the thick fog, while motorists remained alert to avoid mishaps. The conditions persisted for several hours after sunrise before gradually improving.
The foggy spell comes amid a noticeable dip in temperature over the past few days. The combined effect of dense fog and chilly weather has increased discomfort during the early morning hours.
Although no major incidents were reported, authorities have urged commuters to remain cautious whiletravelling under reduced visibility conditions and to follow road safety measures.
