New Delhi, Jan 15:The situation in Iran is becoming increasingly serious, with protests against the government continuing for the past 18 days. There is also growing international discussion around the possibility of a US attack on Iran. In view of the worsening situation, India is closely monitoring developments in the region.
As conditions deteriorate, Iran has begun closing parts of its airspace, significantly impacting international air traffic. In response, Indian airlines Air India and IndiGo have issued travel advisories regarding potential disruptions to flight operations.
Air India, on Thursday, issued a passenger advisory warning of possible flight delays due to the closure of Iranian airspace. The airline stated that its flights operating through the region are currently using alternative routes to ensure passenger safety, which may result in longer travel times.
In a post on social media platform X, Air India said that due to the continuously worsening situation in Iran, subsequent airspace restrictions, and with passenger safety as the top priority, flights transiting the region are being rerouted. As a result, delays may occur.
The airline further clarified that flights which cannot be rerouted safely may be cancelled. Passengers have been strongly advised to check the status of their flights before proceeding to the airport. Air India also expressed regret for the inconvenience caused due to these unforeseen disruptions, reiterating that the safety of passengers and crew remains its highest priority.
Meanwhile, IndiGo Airlines has also issued an advisory following Iran’s sudden closure of its airspace. The airline confirmed that several of its international flights have been impacted by this development.
IndiGo stated that the situation was beyond the airline’s control and apologized for any inconvenience caused to passengers’ travel plans. Affected passengers have been advised to visit the airline’s official website to explore flexible rebooking options and stay updated on flight schedules.
