Sebastian Stan in talks to join Robert Pattinson in The Batman Part II

Sebastian Stan may soon be heading to Gotham City. According to industry reports, the Oscar-nominated actor is in talks to join the cast of The Batman Part II, the follow-up to Matt Reeves’ critically acclaimed 2022 reboot of the Dark Knight franchise. Although negotiations are still ongoing, Stan’s potential involvement has already generated significant buzz among fans.

At this stage, details about Stan’s character are being kept tightly under wraps. It remains unclear whether he would portray an ally or an adversary to Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne, adding an element of intrigue to the sequel’s narrative. Production on the film is expected to begin next spring, with Warner Bros. targeting an October 2027 theatrical release.

The sequel boasts an expanding ensemble. Scarlett Johansson has reportedly joined the supporting cast, while returning actors include Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb (Penguin), Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. Barry Keoghan is also expected to reprise his role as the Joker.

Stan’s casting would mark a reunion with both Pattinson and Johansson. He previously worked with Pattinson in The Devil All the Time and shared the screen with Johansson across several films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Most recently, Stan appeared in Thunderbolts and is set to feature in Avengers: Doomsday.

Although The Batman Part II is not officially part of the newly rebooted DC Cinematic Universe, it is being developed under the DC Studios banner led by James Gunn and Peter Safran. Reeves has previously described the sequel as a carefully guarded project, emphasising the effort to surpass the intensity and acclaim of the first film, which grossed $772 million worldwide.

With talks still ongoing and DC Studios yet to confirm the casting, Sebastian Stan’s possible entry into Gotham adds another layer of anticipation to a sequel already surrounded by high expectations.
