Delhi continues to struggle with deteriorating air quality as theAir Quality Index (AQI)remained in the‘poor’ category, accompanied byshallow fogin several parts of the city. According to theAir Quality Early Warning System, the city’s air is expected to stay in thepoor to very poor rangeover the next six days, raising health concerns for residents, particularly vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and those with respiratory conditions.
The shallow fog observed in the early hours has reduced visibility across parts of Delhi, adding to traffic challenges and creating a damp, chilly morning atmosphere. Environmental experts point out that factors such as vehicular emissions, construction dust, crop burning in neighboring states, and cold weather trapping pollutants close to the ground are contributing to the prolonged poor air quality.
Authorities have urged citizens tolimit outdoor activities, use masks if venturing outside, and avoid burning waste. Continuous monitoring by the Delhi Pollution Control Committee and other agencies aims to track changes in pollutant levels, while steps like traffic regulation and industrial checks are being enforced to reduce emissions.
With pollution expected to persist for the next several days, Delhiites are advised to stay informed about air quality updates and take necessary precautions to safeguard their health.
