A car was completely gutted in a fire after meeting with an accident nearPowertala villagein Odisha’sNuapada districton Tuesday, triggering panic among local residents.
According to sources, the vehicle, registered inChhattisgarh, was travelling from Chhattisgarh towards the Nuapada region when it met with the accident. Soon after the crash, the car caught fire, sending thick black smoke into the air.
Hearing the commotion and noticing the flames, local residents rushed to the spot and managed to rescue the occupants from the vehicle before the fire spread further.
Two people were travelling in the car at the time of the incident. Both sustained injuries in the accident but escaped without any loss of life. The injured were immediately shifted to thedistrict hospital, where doctors said their condition is stable.
Police reached the scene soon after receiving information and have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident and the subsequent fire. Further details are awaited.
