In Khordha district, Odisha, a decades-old bridge between Torsingh and Ruapada collapsed, leaving a Hyva truck carrying soil stranded. The incident occurred on Sunday morning, blocking road access to 8–10 nearby villages. Locals claim the bridge, over 40 years old, was in poor condition and repeated requests for reconstruction were ignored. A new bridge under the PMGSY scheme, started in 2021 with an estimated cost of ₹2.39 crore, was reportedly abandoned by the contractor. Police and authorities are assessing the situation and planning further action.
