Union Home MinisterAmit Shahon Friday asserted that Naxalism inIndiawill be completely eradicated before the next all-India Director Generals of Police (DGsP)–Inspector Generals of Police (IGsP) conference. Shah made the statement while addressing the inaugural session of the three-day 60th DGsP/IGsP conference held inRaipur.
According to a Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) statement, Shah highlighted that thePrime Minister Narendra Modi-led government has strengthened the security grid by constructing 586 fortified police stations over the past seven years. This has reduced the number of Naxal-affected districts from 126 in 2014 to just 11 today.

He added that the government has provided permanent solutions to three longstanding national security challenges: Naxalism, the North-East andJammu and Kashmir, asserting that these regions will integrate fully with the rest of the country soon.
Shah emphasized the need for accuracy in intelligence, clarity in objectives, and synergy in action. He directed state police to collaborate closely with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) to tackle drug trafficking and organized crime at the state, national and international levels.
The Home Minister also underscored the strengthening of India’s policing framework, highlighting enhancements in the National Investigation Agency (NIA), reforms under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), introduction of three new criminal laws and robust legislation against narcotics and fugitive offenders. He said that the full implementation of these laws will make policing in India among the most modern globally
