Ukraine Awaits US Date to Sign ‘100% Ready’ Security Guarantees Document, Zelenskyy Says

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Kyiv is waiting for the US to set a date to sign a completed security guarantees document. His remarks came as US-brokered talks with Russia in Abu Dhabi showed limited progress but no breakthrough.

Ukraine is awaiting confirmation from the United States on when and where a security guarantees document, described by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as “100% ready,” will be signed. Speaking during a visit to Vilnius, Zelenskyy said the guarantees from Washington are central to Ukraine’s position as negotiations with Russia continue nearly four years after the full-scale invasion.

The comments followed two days of US-mediated trilateral talks in Abu Dhabi involving Ukrainian and Russian negotiators. While the discussions did not produce an agreement, Zelenskyy said some differences had narrowed under a US-proposed 20-point peace framework. However, he stressed that major gaps remain, particularly over Russia’s demands that Ukraine relinquish eastern territories.

US officials said further talks are expected next week, even as intensified Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities underscored the fragility of the diplomatic process. Zelenskyy and Ukrainian officials accused Moscow of undermining negotiations through continued attacks on civilian infrastructure.
