Andhra Pradesh’s renewed administrative activity in the disputed Kotia region triggered strong resistance from villagers in Sembi village. An Andhra administrative team had entered the village to carry out an e-survey related to ration cards and Aadhaar enrolment. However, locals opposed the move, questioning the authority of Andhra officials in the area.
The situation quickly escalated into a heated confrontation, with villagers accusing the officials of high-handed conduct. As tensions rose, police stepped in to defuse the situation and warned the Andhra survey team. Acting on police instructions, the officials withdrew from the village, after which normalcy was restored.
The incident once again brings focus to the unresolved territorial and administrative dispute over the Kotia region, where repeated attempts by Andhra Pradesh authorities to conduct official work have met with stiff opposition from local residents.
