Sonepur Collector Withdraws Financial Powers of Tarbha BDO Over Misconduct Allegations.

The District Collector of Sonepur has withdrawn the financial powers of Tarbha BDO Gangaram Budek following multiple complaints of misconduct, administrative irregularities, and alleged misbehaviour with public representatives and staff.

In a significant administrative action, the District Collector of Sonepur has withdrawn the financial powers of Gangaram Budek, the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Tarbha block, following serious allegations regarding his conduct and functioning.

The decision was taken after multiple complaints were received against the officer. Allegations suggest that the BDO misbehaved with elected public representatives and staff members of the block office. He has also been directed to proceed on leave with immediate effect.

To ensure continuity of administrative work, Deputy Collector Satya Sundar Routray has been posted on deputation to oversee the functioning of the Tarbha block administration.

Allegations of Administrative Irregularities

According to official sources, the complaints included stalling of block development works, incomplete maintenance of case records, and non-payment for completed projects. It was further alleged that both members of the public and government employees faced significant inconvenience due to his administrative style.

District Collector Nruparaj Sahu confirmed the action, stating that several complaints had been received over time. He noted that development activities were reportedly halted, case records were not properly maintained, and payments for completed works were pending.

The Collector also mentioned allegations that the officer had thrown a file at a person’s face and had shown disrespect towards elected representatives, adding to the seriousness of the matter.

Administrative Arrangements Made

Considering the gravity of the accusations, the district administration decided to withdraw the BDO’s financial authority and place him on leave. The deputation of Deputy Collector Satya Sundar Routray is intended to maintain administrative stability and prevent disruption of development initiatives in the block.
