Suspicious Bag Triggers Evacuation at Miami International Airport

Parts of Miami International Airport were evacuated after a suspicious unattended bag was reported in the South Terminal. Security checkpoints were temporarily closed, causing delays before authorities gave the all clear.

Thousands of travellers were evacuated from parts of Miami International Airport on Sunday evening after authorities responded to reports of a suspicious unattended bag in the South Terminal. The incident occurred around 6 pm local time near Door 21 in the departures area, prompting an immediate precautionary evacuation.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office confirmed that multiple TSA security checkpoints serving concourses G, H and J were temporarily shut down while standard safety procedures were carried out. Airport officials warned passengers to expect delays during the busy evening travel period.

After a thorough security sweep, authorities declared the area safe and reopened the affected checkpoints. The incident comes days after a separate bomb scare at the airport, which had already heightened security concerns among travellers.
