Thousands of travellers were evacuated from parts of Miami International Airport on Sunday evening after authorities responded to reports of a suspicious unattended bag in the South Terminal. The incident occurred around 6 pm local time near Door 21 in the departures area, prompting an immediate precautionary evacuation.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office confirmed that multiple TSA security checkpoints serving concourses G, H and J were temporarily shut down while standard safety procedures were carried out. Airport officials warned passengers to expect delays during the busy evening travel period.
After a thorough security sweep, authorities declared the area safe and reopened the affected checkpoints. The incident comes days after a separate bomb scare at the airport, which had already heightened security concerns among travellers.
