Bomb Hurled at House in Ganjam’s Chikalakhandi Village, Family Escapes Unhurt

Panic broke out in Chikalakhandi village of Ganjam district after miscreants allegedly hurled a bomb at a house late at night. The explosion caused major damage to the house, while three family members narrowly escaped injury.

Panic gripped Chikalakhandi village under Chhatrapur police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district after unidentified miscreants allegedly hurled a bomb at a house late on Monday night. The explosive was thrown at the residence of G. Kamaraju Reddy while his family members were asleep inside.

The powerful blast partially damaged a wall of the house and destroyed furniture and other household articles. Three members of the family narrowly escaped unhurt, though they were left traumatised by the incident. Hearing the loud explosion, local residents rushed to the spot and alerted the police.

Police suspect that past enmity may be behind the attack, though the exact motive is yet to be established. Chhatrapur police, along with the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), visited the scene and initiated an investigation. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined, and a forensic team is expected to inspect the site to determine the nature of the explosive used. Further investigation is underway.
