Residents of Greater Noida’s Delta 1 sector reportedly fell ill after sewage contaminated their domestic drinking water supply. Over the past three days, multiple households reported symptoms including vomiting, diarrhoea, headaches, and fever.
Several residents said their complaints had been largely ignored despite many falling sick. Vijay Singh, a local resident, said the water supply was yellow and filthy, and even his children suffered from vomiting and diarrhoea. Another resident, Rukmani Singh Bhati, reported a foul smell in the water, which also affected children in her household.
Following repeated complaints, officials from the Greater Noida Authority and the health department visited the area, dug pits at multiple locations, and collected water samples. Preliminary investigations revealed that sewage had entered the drinking water line.
Authorities clarified that the issue was limited to one or two households and has since been resolved. A water department team identified and repaired a leakage point, and the Greater Noida Authority confirmed that the water supply is now fully restored and safe. Additional samples have been collected to ensure water quality.
Earlier this month, 10 people, including an infant, died in Indore after sewage contamination in the city’s treated drinking water triggered a severe outbreak of diarrhoea and vomiting.
