The Subhadra Yojana continues to strengthen financial security for women across Odisha as the state government prepares to release the fourth instalment of the scheme on Sunday. Under this phase, more than ₹5,000 crore will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of over 1.2 crore eligible women beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
Officials said the scheme has emerged as a major welfare initiative aimed at empowering women and improving their financial independence. By ensuring that funds are directly credited to beneficiaries’ accounts, the programme is helping expand financial inclusion and providing economic support to women in both rural and urban areas of the state. The financial assistance is also expected to encourage greater participation of women in household decision-making and community-level economic activities.
The funds will be officially transferred during the Subhadra Yojana Convention to be held at Talabania in Puri on the occasion of International Women's Day. The Chief Minister is scheduled to attend the event and initiate the transfer of funds to the beneficiaries.
In this phase of the scheme, the government has also expanded the beneficiary list by including approximately 2.13 lakh additional women. Officials noted that the addition reflects the continued expansion of the programme as more eligible women are brought under its coverage.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida stated that women who attain the age of 21 years will also be included as beneficiaries under the scheme, further broadening the reach of the initiative.
