Odisha Mining Corporation Limited (OMC) organised a two-dayCervical Cancer Vaccination Drivefor its women employees as part of its welfare initiative promoting preventive healthcare and workplace well-being.
The vaccination programme was conducted onMarch 6 and 7, 2026, covering women employees at the corporation’s Head Office as well as those posted across various mining regions. The initiative involved administering theHuman Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, which helps prevent cervical cancer.
The vaccination drive was launched at the Head Office Dispensary in Bhubaneswar in the presence of Director (HR) Alok Kumar Pal. Women employees working at the Head Office and Khondalite units received the HPV vaccine during the programme.
To ensure broader participation, the initiative was also implemented through OMC’s medical facilities across several operational mining regions, including Barbil, Gandhamardan, Daitari, JK Road, Rayagada and Koira.
OMC’s medical teams and healthcare staff administered the vaccines and also conducted awareness sessions on cervical cancer prevention. Employees were educated about the importance of early screening, vaccination, and regular health check-ups to reduce the risk of the disease.
The initiative highlights OMC’s continued commitment to strengthening employee welfare and ensuring access to preventive healthcare services for its workforce across operational areas.
As part of the lead-up to International Women’s Day, the corporation also organised several awareness programmes on thePrevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH)across its regions during January and February. These sessions were aimed at reinforcing OMC’s commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace.
Aligned with this year’s United Nations theme for International Women’s Day —“For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.”— OMC also hosted a cultural programme at its Head Office celebrating the achievements and contributions of women professionals in the mining sector.
The event brought together employees in a vibrant celebration recognising the dedication and growing role of women in the traditionally male-dominated mining industry.
