Odisha Police on Thursday arrested three men accused of assaulting a differently-abled minor girl in Gudari under Rayagada district. The incident reportedly occurred on Monday afternoon when the victim was returning home carrying firewood from nearby farmland. According to the FIR lodged by the girl’s mother on January 6, the accused allegedly forced the girl onto a motorcycle and took her to a secluded cashew orchard, where the crime took place.
Following the complaint, Gudari Police initiated a detailed investigation under IIC Samarpita Swain, leading to the swift apprehension of all three suspects. The accused were subsequently forwarded to court. Local residents have commended the rapid action by law enforcement but emphasized the need for continued vigilance to ensure the safety of vulnerable individuals in the region.
The girl’s mother stated that she had been working in a cotton field with her children and had sent her daughter home with firewood when the incident occurred. Authorities have assured that all necessary legal procedures are being followed and support will be provided to the survivor and her family.
