The 24th State Level Steering Committee meeting of the Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA), Odisha, was held at Lok Seva Bhawan under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Anu Garg.
During the meeting, officials reviewed the progress of theAnnual Plan of Operation (APO) for 2025–26and discussed the proposed plan for thefinancial year 2026–27.
G. Rajesh, Chief Executive Officer of CAMPA Odisha, briefed the committee on the implementation status of decisions taken during the 23rd State Level Executive Committee meeting held in November 2025.
Officials informed the committee that the State Executive Committee had earlier approved₹1,201.68 crorefor the APO 2025–26, while the National Authority sanctioned₹1,136.22 crore.
Nearly85 percent of the sanctioned funds have already been utilisedfor various afforestation and conservation initiatives across the state. The remaining projects are currently underway and are expected to be completed soon.
The committee reviewed and approved a proposal worth₹1,022.03 crorefor implementing the APO for the financial year 2026–27. The proposal will now be sent to theNational Authority of CAMPAfor final approval.
The proposed plan includescompensatory afforestation across 5,450.63 hectares of landin Odisha.
The funds will support several initiatives including:
Supplementary afforestation programmes
Conservation of wildlife habitats
Regional wildlife management plans
New plantation drives
Maintenance and protection of previously planted saplings
The plan also includesroadside tree plantation drives, digitisation of forest boundaries, and soil moisture conservation effortsin forest areas.
Additional initiatives will focus onbiodiversity conservation, biological resource management, wildlife protection programmes, and strengthening monitoring systems.
Capacity-building training for forest personnel using modern scientific methods will also be conducted to enhance forest management practices.
