A strange and disturbing mystery has gripped Maninathpur village in Bhadrak district, where over 30 bodies have reportedly disappeared from a riverside burial ground over the past several years.
According to villagers, the bodies were buried after traditional funeral rites along the banks of the Baitarani River, but later vanished without explanation. In the most recent incident, five bodies reportedly disappeared in a single night, triggering fear and anger among locals.
One villager claimed that his father’s body, buried in January, was missing when he revisited the site weeks later. Following complaints, police teams along with forensic experts and a dog squad inspected the burial ground, but no conclusive evidence has been found so far.
Several theories have emerged, including possible occult practices, illegal body trade, grave tampering, or disturbance by animals. However, officials have not confirmed any cause.
Police have launched an investigation to uncover the truth behind the mysterious disappearances, as villagers demand answers and stronger security at the burial site.
