Hundreds of candidates aspiring for Leave Training Reserve (LTR) teacher posts have continued their protest outside the office of the Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) in Bhubaneswar, demanding the immediate release of the merit list for high school teacher recruitment. The agitation entered its eighth consecutive day on Monday.
The recruitment process for LTR teachers was initiated in 2023, with approximately 6,025 vacancies announced for subjects including Arts, Odia, Hindi, and Sanskrit. After the declaration of examination results, certificate verification of shortlisted candidates was conducted from January 22.
Despite the completion of the verification process, the commission has not yet published the final merit list, leading to widespread dissatisfaction among aspirants.
More than a thousand candidates reportedly joined the demonstration, staging a continuous sit-in protest outside the OSSC office premises. Several aspirants spent the previous night at the protest site, intensifying pressure on the commission.
One of the protesting candidates said they had met a delegation and were informed that the merit list would be released soon, but no official notification or website update had followed. Another aspirant stated that the protest would continue until an official announcement is made.
The aspirants have urged the commission to expedite the process and provide clarity regarding the publication of the merit list to avoid further uncertainty.
