A 48-year-old man, Sanjeev Kumar Hosanmani from Bambulgi village, died in Bidar, Karnataka, after a glass-coated kite string (manjha) slit his throat while he was riding his motorcycle near Talamadagi village to pick up his daughter for Makar Sankranti. Eyewitnesses reported he fell to the ground bleeding heavily, attempted to call his family, but bystanders did not assist, and emergency services could not save him.
Bidar police confirmed the incident, noting the use of manjha is banned locally during Sankranti, but enforcement remains a challenge. A case has been registered, the body shifted for post-mortem, and investigations are ongoing.
