Kanpur Lamborghini Crash Revives Spotlight on Shivam Mishra and 2024 Income Tax Raids.

A high-speed Lamborghini crash in Kanpur has once again drawn attention to Shivam Mishra, director of the Banshidhar Tobacco Group, reviving public scrutiny over past Income Tax raids and ongoing controversies.

A high-speed Lamborghini crash on Kanpur’s VIP Road on Sunday afternoon has once again pushed Shivam Mishra, son of tobacco businessman K K Mishra, into national focus. According to sources, the luxury car allegedly rammed into pedestrians and multiple vehicles, leaving at least six people injured. Police subsequently seized the vehicle and initiated an investigation.

Eyewitnesses claimed that the Lamborghini Revuelto was being driven at a very high speed and alleged that the driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. The incident has raised fresh questions over the circumstances of the crash and the identity of the driver, with alleged gaps in the FIR further fuelling public debate.

The accident has also revived attention on the Kanpur-based Banshidhar Tobacco Group, a prominent business house that came under scrutiny during large-scale Income Tax raids in 2024. The group is among India’s major suppliers of raw tobacco to pan masala and tobacco brands and has operations spanning Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Mumbai, Gujarat and other states. Founded nearly nine decades ago, it remains one of Kanpur’s oldest industrial establishments.

Shivam Mishra currently serves as a director at Banshidhar Tobacco Private Limited and is considered the face of the group’s present-day management. Operating between Kanpur and Delhi’s Vasant Vihar, he oversees manufacturing, supply chains, financial planning and expansion initiatives across the country.

According to India Today sources, the group entered the national spotlight in March 2024 when the Income Tax Department conducted searches at more than 20 locations linked to the company and its promoters across multiple states. Officials claimed to have recovered large sums of cash, documents related to luxury vehicles, and high-value diamond watches, while alleging tax evasion and undisclosed assets worth several crores. During the raids, authorities also alleged that Shivam Mishra briefly pointed a licensed pistol at officials at his Delhi residence before realising their identity, an incident that attracted widespread attention.

Known for his luxury lifestyle, Shivam Mishra has been linked to high-end vehicles including Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini, Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche, along with expensive watches and jewellery.

With investigations into the Kanpur crash ongoing, the incident has once again placed Shivam Mishra and the Banshidhar Tobacco Group under scrutiny, raising broader questions about accountability, influence and the pace of legal action.
