The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to announce the results of the JEE Main 2026 January session by February 12, 2026, concluding the evaluation process for one of India’s most competitive engineering entrance exams. The official confirmation is awaited, but candidates who appeared between January 21 and 29, 2026, have been eagerly waiting for their scorecards following the closure of the provisional answer key challenge window on February 6.
The computer-based exam was conducted in multiple shifts, including morning and afternoon sessions, to accommodate the large volume of aspirants. The final answer key, expected soon, will be released on the official JEE Main portal (jeemain.nta.nic.in) and will serve as the basis for calculating NTA percentiles. Unlike traditional marksheets, JEE Main results are presented as percentile scores, showing the percentage of candidates who scored equal to or below a candidate. The final scorecards will display subject-wise percentiles for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, along with total percentiles.
All India Ranks (AIR) will not be announced immediately after the January session. Instead, combined rankings will be released after the April 2026 session, based on the best scores obtained across both sessions. This approach allows aspirants to improve their rankings if they perform better in the second session.
Candidates who meet the qualifying cut-off criteria will become eligible for JoSAA counselling, which manages admissions to prestigious engineering institutes such as IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other government-funded technical institutions. Experts advise students to carefully assess their performance and consider appearing for the second session to enhance their percentile or rank.
Once both sessions are complete and AIRs are released, qualified students will proceed with counselling, a critical step toward securing seats in undergraduate engineering programs. Details on cut-offs, counselling schedules, and institution-wise opening and closing ranks are expected alongside or shortly after the final results.
