The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it launched missile strikes on 14 United States military bases across several countries following heightened military escalation between Iran and the United States. Iranian authorities claimed the attacks killed hundreds of American troops, though Washington firmly denied any casualties.
One of the first reported targets was in Bahrain, where thick smoke was seen rising from the Juffair area, home to the United States Fifth Fleet naval base. Witnesses reported hearing loud explosions. However, US officials stated that no personnel were killed, noting that precautionary measures had already been taken, including the authorised departure of military dependents. The US Embassy also advised citizens to seek shelter, while Bahrain’s Interior Ministry activated warning sirens.
Beyond Bahrain, missile strikes were reported in Qatar, Kuwait and Jordan. In Qatar, missiles reportedly targeted the Al Udeid Air Base, a key US military installation in the region. Explosions were also heard near military facilities in Kuwait and Jordan, including the Muwaffaq al-Salti Air Base.
The Indian Embassy in Qatar issued an advisory urging Indian nationals to remain cautious and follow official updates.
In the United Arab Emirates, residents reported loud blasts in Abu Dhabi following Iran’s retaliatory action after the US-Israel joint military operations, codenamed Operation Epic Fury and Operation Roar of the Lion. According to Reuters, witnesses heard explosions in the capital, and one fatality was reported. The Al Dhafra Air Base in southern Abu Dhabi was also reportedly targeted.
The situation remains fluid as regional tensions continue to escalate.
