The Delhi Police has arrested a fifth accused in connection with the shirtless protest staged by members of the Indian Youth Congress during the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi. The accused, identified as Jitendra Yadav, was arrested from Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh and was later produced before a court, which granted two days of police remand.

The incident occurred at Bharat Mandapam, where around 10 Youth Congress activists allegedly entered the venue and staged a dramatic shirtless protest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Police had earlier arrested four other members and registered an FIR in connection with the disruption.

During the investigation, police seized a vehicle linked to one of the accused and recovered T-shirts and posters believed to have been used in the protest. Authorities are also probing the source of funding, including the printing of political slogan T-shirts, suspecting a larger conspiracy behind the demonstration.

The protest has triggered a political confrontation, with the Bharatiya Janata Party criticising it as an attempt to embarrass the country at a global forum, while the Indian National Congress defended it as a democratic expression. Meanwhile, police teams continue raids to trace other accused and uncover the full scope of the case.
