In a late-night robbery that has triggered fear among residents, a group of armed miscreants allegedly broke into a house at Bhaliapadara village under Boudh police station limits and looted cash and valuables worth lakhs of rupees.
The incident occurred at around 2:45 am when the family members were asleep. According to police sources, around 15 to 20 armed men reportedly entered the house of Satyabrata Mishra after breaking the lock. The accused allegedly gained entry through the rear gate and locked the doors from outside to prevent any outside interference.
The miscreants, reportedly armed with sharp weapons, tied the hands and legs of the family members and assaulted them when they attempted to resist. The complainant alleged that the robbers were also carrying crude bombs and threatened to kill the family during the robbery.
“After entering the house, they locked both the front and back doors. They tied me, my wife and my mother, and started taking away gold and silver ornaments. They were holding bombs and threatening us,” Satyabrata Mishra stated, adding that an FIR has been lodged with the police.
The gang reportedly fled with gold jewellery, silver ornaments, cash and other valuable household items.
Following the complaint, Boudh police rushed to the spot and carried out a preliminary investigation. A case has been registered, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the accused.
