A confrontation between a Superintending Engineer and a contractor inside the Public Works Department (PWD) office in Bolangir has turned into a legal matter, with police registering cases against both individuals. The incident, which occurred within the PWD premises, has drawn widespread attention among officials and contractors in the district.
Following complaints from both sides, Bolangir Town Police registered separate cases under Section 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Superintending Engineer Ashutosh Jena and contractor Premaranjan Panigrahi have been asked to appear for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.
Police officials stated that both parties allegedly misbehaved and exchanged abusive language during the altercation. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and related documents to establish the exact sequence of events.
The dispute is reportedly linked to allegations of favoritism towards an outside contractor. The contractor has also claimed that contractors are facing threats and verbal abuse. Police said further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
