Speaking about the depth of her loss, Hema Malini said:
“After 57 years of togetherness, I can’t imagine my life without Dharmendra. I was very deeply in sorrow, still that is there. But trying to get out of it, because it is too much for me to take. I am strong, people say I am strong… but sometimes you have to go on, you have to.”
Despite her strong public image, she admitted the pain is still raw, and every day is a struggle.
Hema shared that Dharmendra had returned home from the hospital in his final days, which gave the family hope.
“He was back at home during the last few days… I felt he would be around for one or two more years, definitely.”
Since he had recovered from earlier hospitalisations, the family believed he would bounce back again. His passing came as a shock.
Remembering Dharmendra as a person, Hema said:
“He had the best of life. Whatever he desired, he had it. Such a sweet person he was. I feel proud that so many people love him.”
She said the outpouring of love from fans across the country has been overwhelming and deeply touching.
Dharmendra’s final film Ikkis was released shortly after his death, but Hema said she hasn’t been able to watch it yet.
“I can’t see it now, it will be too overwhelming. My daughters are also saying that. Maybe I will watch it later when the wounds start healing.”
Addressing rumours about her equation with Dharmendra’s sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, Hema firmly dismissed all speculation.
“It has always been very nice and cordial. Even today it is very nice. I don’t know why people think something is wrong. It is because people want gossip… We are absolutely happy and very close to each other.”
She also expressed sadness that some people were using her grief to create stories.
On reports about a museum dedicated to Dharmendra, Hema said it is being planned by Sunny Deol.
“That’s what Sunny is planning. He will tell me whatever he does.”
Hema Malini’s words reflect both deep heartbreak and quiet strength. Even as the sorrow lingers, she continues to move forward — holding on to memories, love, and the legacy of a man who was cherished by millions. 💔
